Experian Boost Review

Having a low credit score can have a significant impact on your personal finance journey from qualifying credit card applications, mortgages, to auto loans to even new utility fees.

Even if you have fair credit, you may not have the opportunity to be considered for specific types of credit accounts or loans.

Poor credit can also mean you will be subject to higher rates. Bottom line, the better the credit score you have, the better interest rates and loans you will have access to.

But how can you increase your credit score easily? Experian has a new service to help you with that.

So, read on to learn all about it in our Experian Boost Review.

What Is Experian?

experian logo

Most people know that Experian is one of three United States credit bureaus (Equifax, Transunion, and Experian).

These three credit reporting bureaus provide information (your credit report or FICO score) to lenders based on the data they have.

For example, Experian may provide bank account information on all your credit accounts.

This would include late payments, overdrafts of your checking account, negative remarks from other lenders, and bankruptcies.

Based on this and other information, a credit score is then determined by using a unique formula.

What is Experian Boost?

Now, Experian is offering its new program as a free service to help with building credit called Experian Boost.

This program is specifically designed to aid people in credit repair by helping “boost” their credit scores in real-time.

This is especially helpful if you have a thin credit file or maybe new credit.

Before you wonder whether or not this is a scam, Experian has already shown that users on their platform have experienced an increase of 13 points on average.

Remember, however, that not all Experian Boost users will have the same results. Your results may vary from the average.

How Does Experian Boost Work?

Anyone who has a desire to raise their credit score can use Experian Boost as well as have access to another new product, the UltraFICO program.

Keep in mind that the tactics employed by the program are designed to help people who have a limited amount of credit history or poor credit scores.

Usually, your credit score is derived from sources that can be difficult to come by.

This includes a student loan, a credit card issuer, or a home mortgage.

Experian Boost steps in and uses your phone bill or your utility to aid in raising your credit score.

If you have made phone payments for a few years but have never had a credit card or student loan, then Experian Boost might be the program you need to help you give your credit score a nudge in the right direction.

What Does Experian Boost Offer?

If you apply for a line of credit or a loan, your lender will use your scores from either a single credit bureau or all three to determine whether or not you qualify.

However, every bureau provides a different version of your score.

Keep in mind that if you decide to pursue the Experian Boost program, it only impacts your VantageScore 3 and 4 scores, your FICO 8 and 9 scores, and your Experian Credit score.

Experian says that their Boost program is ideal for someone who has an Experian credit report of 580-670 and less than five total trade or credit lines.

While this may appear to leave many people out, most can use Experian Boost to improve their scores unless they are in the upper echelon of credit scores.

Here’s an idea of who would be ideal for using the Experian Boost program:

  • Adults with little to no credit history: Experian Boost can have a significant impact on those who don’t quite have the track record that banks and other lenders want to see.
  • Consumers with incredible financial restraint: If you regularly make on-time payments making a positive payment history, but not with the type of credit line or account that you need, Experian Boost can help you with that.
  • Customers with low or poor credit scores: If your credit score needs a jump start, then use Experian Boost before you apply for a loan or mortgage so you can get a better rate.

Experian hopes to see nearly two-thirds of its customers using Boost to improve their scores.

But why would you want to worry about a better credit score? Here’s an example of how much of an impact it can have on your finances:

If you have low or poor credit, then you can expect to pay almost a quarter of a million dollars more throughout your life than someone who has fair or excellent credit.

Doesn’t that make Experian Boost a little more appealing?

The goal of this program is to move customers from getting denied, to getting approved for the loan or mortgage they want.

How Much Does Experian Boost Cost?

The great thing about Experian Boost is that it’s free for anyone to use.

All you have to do is create an account, and you’re ready to start improving your credit.

Start Boosting Your Credit Today!

Is Experian Boost Safe?

If you’re worried about security with Experian Boost, the program protects your information with a 256-bit encrypted SSL.

However, always do everything you can to protect your financial data such as your social security number or banking information like a checking and savings account.

This is especially critical as major credit monitoring bureaus are seeing data breaches occur that have an impact on hundreds of millions of people and their personal financial information.

When you sign up for Experian Boost, you’re giving third-party access to your banking information.

So, do everything you can to ensure your information is protected.

Should You Use Experian Boost?

Now we’re down to the million-dollar question. Should you use Experian Boost?

Throughout our Experian Boost review, we’ve shown you how the program can serve as a way to improve your credit score.

It can help you qualify for a line of credit, a loan, or a mortgage. It can also help you lower your interest rates.

As a disclaimer, not all lenders use your Experian credit file or Experian data meaning you may not see the full benefits of a score increase.

If you don’t have a credit history, or if you have poor or bad credit, then Experian Boost can guide you toward improving your score as reported by the major credit bureaus.

This process makes it easier for you to get the approval you need.

By using your on-time utility bill payments and telecom payments like cell phone bills, the program shows lenders that you are a reliable and dependable consumer, and they will get their money on time.

For example, as long as you have at least three months of payment records while using a service like Netflix or Hulu, Experian can use those online banking utility payments as a way to boost your score.

Keep in mind if you’re using Mint or Credit Karma to track your score, you may not see your boost right away.

Of course, if you already have good credit, then Experian Boost may not do you much good.

But for everyone else, this is a program worth considering. The information in this article is presented without warranty.

About The Personal Credit Builder

The Personal Credit Builder, also known as Personal Credit Software, is provided by LMR International, Inc. LMR International, Inc. is a computer hardware and software developer company, based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and in business for 22 years.

The company bills the software as “a credit repair tool that really works”. They promise you’ll begin seeing results in 30 days and that you can legally increase your credit score and save thousands of dollars in interest in the process.

In addition to offering the personal credit repair software version, they also offer the professional version, known as the Credit Money Machine Net.

The personal version can do exactly what the professional version does, which is to say that it automates the credit repair process, reducing hours down to minutes in making it happen. The software includes professionally designed templates to dispute credit items.

The company even offers the software to mortgage professionals, real estate agents, and financial professionals to make available to their clients to help them repair their own credit.

The company points out that improving your credit can help lower your bills and mortgage and auto payments, reduce interest rates, and help you to qualify for a home loan, better insurance rates, and avoid deposits on utilities.

How The Personal Credit Builder Works

The Personal Credit Builder can help you remove the following items from your credit reports:

  • Late payments
  • Collections
  • Charge-offs
  • Bankruptcies
  • Judgments
  • Tax liens
  • Repossessions
  • Inquiries
  • Identity theft
  • Fraud
  • Incorrect information
  • Foreclosures
  • Garnishments
  • Closed accounts
  • Negative settlements

That is a bold claim, and we like to add a caveat that no credit software or credit repair service can remove any of the above items if they are legitimately yours. But the software can help you to remove them or improve the rating if any contain any significant errors, or do not belong to you.

The Personal Credit Builder is a Windows-based software program, using a point-and-click navigation system. That makes it a very user-friendly software. It’s a comprehensive software with an integrated set of tools that will make it easy to use, even for someone who is not familiar with the credit repair process.

The software can help you to stop collection agencies from pursuing further action against you, including the phone calls they harass you with. The company claims it can help you boost your credit score up to 100 points in very little time.

The software is available for up to three individuals.

Customer service. Available 24/7 but only by the in-website email. Phone contact is not available. When you contact the company using email, you’ll be required to provide your name, email address, phone number, and comments describing your issue.

Cons:

  • This is a do-it-yourself credit repair software program, not a credit repair service. They provide all the tools, but you’ll need to make the effort to achieve success. You may also be required to follow up with certain creditors by phone. You’ll need to be prepared for that.
  • Customer support is limited to email only. No phone support is available.
  • Unlike some credit repair software, The Personal Credit Builder does not offer a free trial subscription.
  • Also, unlike many credit repair software, The Personal Credit Builder does not offer a moneyback guarantee.

Who The Personal Credit Builder will Work Best For

If you have poor credit, you’re certainly not alone. Millions of other people do as well. The critical step, however, is to do something about it. Many people do this by engaging the services of a credit repair service.

They can get the job done, and often with very little effort on your part. But credit repair services also cost money. At a minimum, you’ll be charged an ongoing monthly fee until the credit repair process is complete. Some credit repair companies will also charge you an upfront fee to begin the process.

If you want to repair your credit, and you don’t want to pay hundreds of dollars in fees, credit repair software is the next best option. Software like The Personal Credit Builder will help you make it happen, easily and in the shortest amount of time possible.

Even if you’ve never had any experience with credit repair in the past, The Personal Credit Builder’s easy to use the point-and-click system will guide you through the process effortlessly.

All you need to do is enter your personal information, and the credit entries you want to challenge, and the software will produce the challenge letters you need to open disputes with both your creditors and the major credit bureaus.

What we also like about this software is that it provides additional functions, particularly those aimed at helping you get good credit. If you have bad credit, you certainly need to remove any errors.

But adding good credit to your report can also be highly effective in improving your credit scores. That’s what The Personal Credit Builder does. It uses a holistic strategy to help you improve your credit.

We’re a bit concerned at the lack of a free trial offer, as well as a moneyback guarantee. You should be aware that the product does not offer either. But apart from those caveats, this looks to be an effective credit repair software.

If you’d like more information, or you’d like to order the software, check out The Personal Credit Builder website

Credit Detailer Review

Credit Detailer is completely different than the credit repair services we normally review on this website. That’s because Credit Detailer isn’t a credit repair service, but a credit repair software package.

Put another way, it takes people who want to go the do-it-yourself credit repair route and gives them the tools they need to make it work.

The reality is that anyone can do their own credit repair. But it is a very specialized process, and many are unfamiliar with how it works. That’s a legitimate concern, and a major reason to engage the services of a true credit repair service.

But if you have the desire and the willingness to repair your own credit, just having the right tools can equip you for the job.

That’s what Credit Detailer provides. If you decide you want to fix your own credit, getting the software they offer will make the task easier.

About Credit Detailer

credit detailer logoCredit Detailer has been in business for over 15 years and is headquartered in North Hampton, New Hampshire. As mentioned above, Credit Detailer provides credit repair software and not direct credit repair services.

The primary purpose of the software is to enable you to correct erroneously and incorrectly reported information on your credit reports. You can challenge an unlimited number of creditor accounts.

And since you’re paying a flat fee for the software, you’ll pay a lot less than you will with credit repair services.

Some credit repair services charge even more for either a very large number of creditor accounts or credit situations that are particularly complicated.

And since it’s entirely possible that a comprehensive credit repair service can take longer than one year, you may end up paying well over $1,000 by the time you’re done.

You can order Credit Detailer and pay a flat fee upfront. You can then work on repairing your own credit at your own pace. But the advantage of the software is that it provides everything you need to successfully challenge and correct credit entries.

That will reduce the amount of time it will take for any individual credit challenge.

Even if you have a large number of derogatory entries on your credit report, you may decide to focus on only a small number that you consider to be the most damaging.

Using the credit repair software, you’ll be able to do that at a lower cost and in much less time than it might take with a credit repair service.

How Credit Detailer Works

When you sign up for the service, it works by providing a series of screens where you can input the information on each of your creditors.

You start by entering your basic information, such as your name, Social Security number birthday, phone number, and address. You’ll then be able to enter your credit information, including the details of your history with each creditor.

This enables you to assemble all your problem credit accounts on the software.

For each creditor, you’ll enter the creditor name and account number, then select a challenging reason. You can then check the box for each credit bureau you want to contact to dispute the account.

Challenge reasons include collections, charge-offs, late payments, repossessions, foreclosures, bankruptcy, and other credit issues.

You can add unlimited accounts, so you don’t need to be concerned if you have several credit accounts you need to fix. Once you enter the information in the software, you can save it and print it, as well as the credit challenge letters for each creditor.

You’ll be able to save each letter on the software for easy access later.

If after beginning working with the software you decide that you need direct assistance, Credit Detailer has partnered with a credit repair firm, The Credit Coach.

They can provide live assistance to help you through the process. That will include personal coaching and training in how to use the software, or even to have a credit coach manage the process for you.

Once you enter your information on the software, it’s stored directly on your personal computer. The information is not stored online or retained by Credit Detailer. That will keep your personal information private.

Free trial. You can test-drive Credit Detailer for seven days free of charge. That will enable you to see what the software can do and to decide if you want to purchase the product.

Two Credit Detailer Versions

Credit Detailer offers two types of credit repair software:

Credit Detailer Personal Edition

The Credit Detailer Personal Edition is for individuals. It can be used by two people and comes with unlimited printing and unlimited credit line items.

Credit Detailer Professional Edition

Credit Detailer also offers their Professional Edition, which provides software for practicing credit repair services, or for those who want to go into the credit repair business.

When you purchase this edition, it enables you to work with unlimited clients, unlimited credit lines, with unlimited printing.

The Professional Edition provides everything you need to be in the credit repair service business.

And much like the Personal Edition, all client information and data entered into the software is retained on your own computer system.

Credit Detailer Features and Benefits

Credit Education: For a credit repair software program, Credit Detailer has a surprisingly comprehensive list of education resources. This starts with your credit rights.

They provide links to resources regarding the Fair Credit Reporting Act, Fair Debt Collections Practices Act, Fair & Accurate Transaction Reporting Act, and the Fair Credit Billing Act.

These are available directly on the website and will empower you by educating you about your rights under the law when dealing with creditors.

  • Credit Detailer software is available in Spanish: If Spanish is your preferred language, the software is available in Spanish as well as English.
  • Customer service: You can reach Credit Detailer by phone, Monday through Friday, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, and weekends from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm – all times Eastern. You’ll be asked to leave a message so an agent can get back with you. The company also responds to emails seven days a week.
  • Technical Support: Credit Detailer new customers get free installation and activation assistance within 30 days of making the purchase. But if you need assistance after the 30-day period expires, you can hire a technician to assist you with the process for a fee of $60 per hour.

Credit Detailer Pricing and Fees

Pricing for the two editions are as follows:

  • Personal Edition, $99 for a lifetime license
  • Professional Edition, $399 for a lifetime license

You’ll pay the flat fee upfront on the Personal Edition, but you’ll have a choice of either a flat fee upfront or monthly installments for the Professional Edition. Payment methods include PayPal, Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover.

Refund Policy. Credit Detailer provides a full refund within 30 days of purchasing the product. No questions will be asked. Once the refund is issued, all activations will be disabled

How to Sign up with Credit Detailer

You can download the Credit Detailer software directly from the website. It’s designed to work with Windows 64-bit or 32-bit with Microsoft Office 32-bit. A Quick Start Guide is available online to help you with the installation.

Once again, if you need live technical support, it will be available free of charge for up to 30 days after making your purchase.

Credit Detailer Pros & Cons

Pros:

  • Designed specifically to assist the do-it-yourself credit repair person, who just needs the proper tools to get the job done right.
  • You pay one flat fee upfront. Unlike credit repair services, there are no monthly recurring subscription fees to pay.
  • The service is available with a seven-day free trial, enabling you to test out the software before making your payment.
  • The software comes with a 30-day moneyback guarantee.
  • Since your personal information is stored on your personal computer, and not online or in a Credit Detailer database, it remains in your personal possession and is more secure.
  • You can purchase live credit repair support from the Credit Detailer’s partner, The Credit Coach. This is a valuable option to have on certain difficult credit situations or with particularly uncooperative creditors.

Cons:

  • Credit Detailer is a credit repair software and not a credit repair service. That means you won’t have direct support from credit repair personnel in your effort to repair your credit.
  • Sending letters can be an effective way to deal with credit problems, but phone follow-up is often required. If you’re not comfortable with direct contact, you may need a credit repair service.
  • If you need live assistance more than 30 days after purchasing the software, you will have to pay a fee of $60 per hour. The website does not indicate if that fee is prorated for shorter phone times.

Who Credit Detailer will Work Best For

Throughout this review, we’ve made it clear that Credit Detailer is credit repair software and not a full-service credit repair service. For that reason, it’s designed specifically for consumers who want to repair their own credit, rather than hiring a more costly repair service.

The software will make it incredibly easy to repair your credit. You’ll not only be informed about your credit rights under the law, but the software will provide you with all the tools you need to do exactly what credit repair services do.

Credit Detailer will work best for those who not only have a strong desire to manage their own credit repair but also have a willingness to go beyond simply sending letters.

Since you won’t have the representation of a credit repair service, there will be times when you will need to get more directly involved in the process. That will not only involve email and telephone follow-up, but it may also require negotiations.

However, if you don’t feel comfortable with the direct aspect of credit repair, especially the negotiating process, you may be better off with a full-service credit repair company.

You may also choose to go the credit repair service route if you either have very complicated credit problems, or you have numerous credit issues that will require a substantial investment of time and effort.

But if you’re ready to take the reins to fix your own credit, Credit Detailer credit repair software is an excellent choice to help you with the process.

About Credit Aid

Credit aid logoCredit Aid was launched in 2002 and is based in Culver City, California. They claim to be the world’s first credit repair software. They also claim their product has helped millions of people increase their credit scores.

The company states you can increase your credit score by up to 250 points or even more using the software.

The company provides credit repair software to assist those who prefer to go the do-it-yourself route in fixing their own credit.

While this can be a challenging task, it’s made much easier when you have the right tools. Credit-Aid provides all the tools you need to get the job done on your own.

One of the standout features of Credit-Aid is that they have a fairly detailed “About Us” page. While this would not be remarkable in most industries, it is at least somewhat unusual in the credit repair space.

Many credit repair companies give very little detailed information about their company and who runs it. Credit-Aid not only describes what the company’s about, but also the people who run it.

That should give Credit-Aid customers a strong measure of added confidence. There’s no indication that this company is trying to hide.

Like many competing credit repair software programs, Credit-Aid is available for both individuals to increase their credit scores, as well as professional credit repair services that can use the software to help their clients.

How Credit-Aid Works

When you sign up for Credit-Aid software, you start by entering your user information. That’s basic information, like your name, email address, Social Security number, telephone number, email address, and other relevant information.

Once that information is provided, you’ll start using the Credit Wizard function.

It’s a three-step process:

  1. Order credit history reports
  2. Review credit history reports
  3. Correct errors on reports

Order Credit History Reports

When you order your credit reports, you’ll have the choice to order free annual reports by mail or online. In either case, Credit-Aid will provide you with the letter requesting the reports.

There is no cost for this since by law you are entitled to receive each of your three credit reports (one from each of the three major credit bureaus, Equifax, TransUnion, and Experian) each year.

What makes this process so simple is that Credit-Aid has ready-made letter request templates, populated with your personal information as entered at the very beginning. All you need to do is select which credit bureaus you want to request your report from.

Review Credit History Reports

Once you receive your credit report, the software will take you through the review process. It will explain the credit items, as well as the types of errors you need to look for.

Correct Errors on Report

After you’ve listed all the credit errors on your reports, you move on to the third step, which is the correct errors on your reports. Once again, you can do that directly through the software.

You can select the credit item, the credit bureau you want to send a dispute letter to, and the reason for the dispute.

Credit-Aid Tools

The software offers the following credit repair tools:

  • Credit Bureau Letters
  • Creditor Letters
  • Collection Agency Letters
  • Organization and Planning
  • Storeroom for all Letters
  • Credit Tips
  • A “My Credit Diary”
  • My Saved Letters folder

You can dispute as many credit items as you want, and even include multiple disputes in the same letter to each credit bureau where the credit entry appears.

The “My Credit Diary ” is where you can record your activity for each credit dispute. That includes recording any phone contact, such as who you called and when, as well as what was discussed.

The software even offers calculators to help you determine how long it will take to pay off credit card balances. This is important because the second biggest factor in your credit score calculation is credit utilization.

That’s the amount of outstanding debt you owe on your credit cards, divided by your maximum credit limits. This number should generally be below 30%. The calculator can show you how long it will take to get there.

If you have a lot of outstanding credit card debt, this is one of the very best ways to improve your credit score.

The Storeroom is where you can find a list of dozens of credit repair form letters. At every step of the credit repair process, you can select an appropriate letter. For example, if a collection agency is calling you repeatedly, you can use the software to send a “cease and desist” letter.

The Credit Tips section is where you can find third-party credit repair resources. This includes links to the Federal Trade Commission, where you’ll get access to the laws that protect consumers from creditors.

Just knowing what your rights are under the law offers powerful leverage when dealing with uncooperative creditors.

Two Credit Aid Versions – Personal and Professional

Like other credit repair software companies, Credit-Aid offers editions for both individuals and professionals.

Personal Credit Aid Version

The individual software, Credit-Aid Deluxe 8.0 can be used to repair credit for up to three people. It lets each access free credit reports from each of the three credit bureaus. It helps consumers dispute information with collections, late payments, bankruptcy, divorce, foreclosure, and even identity theft.

The software was written by attorneys, so it incorporates your legal rights under federal law. It will teach you how to read and understand your credit report, how to negotiate with creditors, and legally remove derogatory information from your credit report.

Professional Credit Aid Version

The professional version, Credit Repair Cloud, is available for new and existing credit repair companies. It works similar to Credit-Aid Deluxe 8.0 for individuals, but it allows a credit repair service to work with a large number of clients.

Credit Repair Cloud even comes with free training to teach you how to get the best use out of the software. Since it provides all the tools needed for effective credit repair, it’s the only system you’ll need.

Credit-Aid Features and Benefits

  • Free Demo Software. Available for download on both Windows and Mac. You’ll get an opportunity to test the software to see if you like it before paying for it.
  • Credit-Aid is available in both English and Spanish. If you prefer Spanish, the software is available in that language.
  • Customer Service. The company provides an 800 number for phone calls, but when you call in you will be required to leave a voicemail. A customer service representative will get back with you. Customer service hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Pacific time. The website does indicate a link for a Support Desk, but it appears that the page has been disabled.
  • Technical Support. The company doesn’t indicate the terms of technical support, nor is there a way to access it from the website. However, you can call customer service to get the support you need.
  • Credit Education Resources. The Credit-Aid website has several resource pages where you can get information related to credit and credit repair. This includes Credit Repair Tips, Credit Facts, ID Theft, and the Bad Credit Blog. Each has links to articles that will help you better understand how credit works, as well as how to successfully navigate the credit repair process.
  • The Credit-Aid Guaranty. The company guarantees you’ll increase your credit score or they’ll refund the price of the software.

Pricing and Fees

As of 12/31/20, Credit Repair Cloud offers four different packages, ranging from $179 a month to $599 per month.

The price differences reflect both the number of team members in your organization, as well as the number of active clients you maintain.

How to Sign Up

You can download either the Credit-Aid Deluxe 8.0 version for individuals or the Credit Repair Cloud version for professionals directly from the Credit-Aid website, or arrange to do so by phone.

Pros & Cons

Pros:

  • Credit-Aid Deluxe 8.0 is designed specifically to enable you to go the do-it-yourself credit repair route. This can save you hundreds of dollars on credit repair services.
  • Credit-Aid provides everything you need to repair your own credit. That includes dozens of form letters, access to your credit reports, and plenty of information to help you learn the credit process as well as your legal rights.
  • Very reasonably priced for individuals at under $30 upfront, and requires no monthly payments.
  • The service is available with a 30-day free trial, enabling you to test out the software before making your payment.
  • The software comes with a moneyback guarantee for a full refund if it fails to increase your credit score.
  • Up to three people can repair their credit using the same software license. Additional individuals can be added for $10 per person.

Cons:

  • This is a do-it-yourself credit repair software program, not a credit repair service. They provide all the tools, but you’ll need to make the effort to achieve success.
  • Credit repair does involve a significant amount of direct contact with creditors, through both email and phone. You will need to be comfortable doing either.
  • Customer support with this software is fairly limited.
  • There may be particularly difficult credit situations where you will need to engage the services of a credit attorney.

Who Credit Aid will Work Best For

If you have the guts to repair your own credit, or you’ve worked with credit repair services in the past and haven’t been satisfied, you owe it to yourself to try going the do-it-yourself route. And if you do, Credit-Aid gives you everything you need to be successful in that endeavor.

You could go on the web and research various do-it-yourself credit repair websites. But that will ultimately mean you’ll need to write your own letters for each specific situation. You’ll also have to make the determination as to which letters to send and when.

Credit-Aid takes care of all that for you. All form letters are available, as well as instructions, for each credit situation you come up against. The user-friendly interface can save you hundreds of hours on research and letter writing.

One issue with Credit-Aid that’s not fully explained in connection with any credit repair software is that there will come a time in the credit repair process when you will need to get directly involved. That will include sending follow-up emails and also making telephone contact.

There’s a large amount of negotiation that goes on with credit repair, particularly with borderline situations. You’ll need to be able to handle those negotiations if you want the system to work for you.

Like most other credit repair software programs, Credit-Aid does not provide direct assistance in the credit repair process.

As much as we think Credit-Aid is a winning credit repair software, it’s not recommended for those who lack the confidence to go the do-it-yourself route. If that describes you, we strongly recommend you check out the many credit repair services we have reviewed on this website.

But if you’re ready to jump in and work to fix your own credit, Credit-Aid will be an invaluable resource.

About TurnScor

turnscor credit repair login

TurnScor is part of Advanced Credit Technologies, Inc. (ACRT), which was launched in 2008, and is a technology company focused on both fraud prevention and credit management.

TurnScor is ACRT’s primary product and is a proprietary software platform allowing customers to both monitor and manage their credit from the privacy of their own homes.

The TurnScor process begins by ordering a free e-book, “Easy Step-by-Step Guide to Credit Management”. That will provide you with an overview of what’s involved in successful credit management, as well as help you to determine if you want to order the service.

Once you do, you’ll pay a flat fee which will give you a license to access the TurnScor website for a full year. If you decide that you want to continue using the service, it’s renewable at an annual rate of half the initial fee.

In this way, TurnScor can be available not just to help you repair your credit, but also to continue to properly manage your credit going forward.

This will be a valuable additional resource to anyone who had difficulty with credit issues in the past, perhaps because of a lack of full understanding of how the credit process works.

How TurnScor Works

TurnScor uses a simple point-and-click navigation system, making the interface very easy to use even if you’re not familiar with how the credit repair process works. It’s specifically designed for those who are not tech-savvy, and the dashboard does include a training center.

You can learn how to operate the software either by watching a video or by reading a tutorial. You can even watch an actual demonstration.

One particular tool TurnScor uses that’s especially user-friendly is the “T” icon. Anytime you get stuck on anything you come across in the software, you can click that icon, and a pop-up video will show you the next step in the process.

The basic strategy of the TurnScor system is to make sure both credit bureaus and creditors to fully comply with the Federal Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), which they are required to do by law. Any information reported that cannot be accurately verified must legally be removed from your credit report.

The software is designed to help you identify those inaccuracies and errors, and to contact the credit bureaus and creditors to have them removed.

The software uses a four-step process to help you repair your credit:

#1 Access Your Credit Profile

You obtain your most recent credit reports from the three major credit bureaus, Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion.

#2 Identify Credit Items

Organize your credit items into a summary grid where you can track your progress. This grid acts as a control for the entire process.

#3 Send Challenge Letters

Select, then print, challenge letters that will be sent each of the credit bureaus where a credit error exists.

#4 Update Information and Credit Scores

Here you review your updated credit profiles on each of the credit reports to see the results if the challenge letters sent to the credit bureaus were successful.

You’re entitled to one free copy of your credit report each year from each of the three major bureaus. But you’re also entitled to a free copy of the results of any credit challenges.

TurnScor Tools

  • Attorney on Staff: This is another feature that distinguishes TurnScor from the competition. Attorney Mark L. Vavreck is on staff to assist you with difficult situations involving collection agencies. He will act as an advocate to help you navigate credit laws. He’s available to offer advice on your debt situation. There is no extra cost for this service.
  • Monthly Budget: TurnScor has created a monthly budget to help you better manage your monthly expenses. They recognize that credit problems often come from inadequate budgeting. By getting better control of your budget, you’ll avoid creating additional credit problems. It’s a prevention strategy that will help to keep your credit problems in the past.

Features and Benefits

  • Customer Service: The company offers contact by phone and by in-website email. However, they don’t provide their hours and days of operation, which you should assume to be regular business hours.
  • The TurnScor Training Center: TurnScor provides a step-by-step guide to credit management to help you learn how the credit process works. It stresses the following guidelines under federal law in dealing with creditors. It will guide and coach you with each step in the process. You can choose to learn using a written e-book, a video-based library, or a second video-based library that actually deals with using the software.
  • Credit Education Resources: Along with the software, TurnScor provides a wealth of credit education information.
  • 60-day Money Back Guaranty: If you’re not completely satisfied with the software after 60 days, TurnScor will promptly issue you a refund, with no questions asked.

For example, they provide the Five Factors of Credit Scoring (how your credit score is calculated) and links to consumer protections under the law, including the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).

Armed with the knowledge of your rights under federal law, you’ll be more confident and effective in dealing with uncooperative creditors

Pricing and Fees

TurnScor charges a flat fee of up to $495 per individual to license access to the website for a term of one year. You can renew your license for an additional year at half the price.

How to Sign up

You can sign up for TurnScor directly from the website. They provide an input screen that asks for basic information, including your name, address, cell phone, and your email address.

Note that they don’t require you to put your Social Security number on file. You will then be required to create and confirm a password.

When using the software, the company recommends Mozilla Firefox to minimize any compatibility issues. The software can work on Internet Explorer, but it’s simply been found to have the best performance on Firefox.

Pros & Cons

Pros:

  • TurnScor will help you to go the do-it-yourself credit repair route, saving you hundreds of dollars on credit repair services.
  • TurnScor provides everything you need to repair your own credit. That includes dozens of form letters, access to your credit reports, and plenty of information to help you learn the credit process as well as your legal rights.
  • An attorney is available on staff to help you with any difficult situations, particularly collection agencies. There is no additional charge for this service.
  • TurnScor charges a single upfront flat fee. There are no monthly fees thereafter.
  • If you decide you want to keep TurnScor, you can renew your subscription on an annual basis, for 50% of the upfront fee.
  • Turnscor doesn’t request your Social Security number, which adds an extra layer of security to the program.
  • The service is available in both English and Spanish.

Cons:

  • As do-it-yourself credit repair software, TurnScor is not a credit repair service. They provide all the tools you’ll need to fix your own credit, but you’ll need to make the effort to make it work.
  • Credit repair does require a large amount of direct contact with creditors, often by phone. If you’re not comfortable negotiating on your own behalf, this service may not work for you.
  • The fee of $159 is at the height and of the range for credit repair software. But it does need to be remembered that the service includes advice from an attorney, as well as budgeting capabilities.

Who TurnScor will Work Best For

TurnScor is designed for anyone who wants to repair their own credit. This can be either because you don’t want to pay the higher fees that full-service credit repair services charge, or because you had a bad experience using one in the past.

Still, others may be interested in it for the challenge. By learning to repair your own credit, you can avoid future credit problems, then be ready to deal with them as they arise.

TurnScor will give you everything you need, including access to your credit reports, detailed information on the problems they contain, strategies and tools to use in disputing the errors, and tracking follow-up results on your credit reports.

But perhaps the most interesting feature of the TurnScor service is the availability of an in-house attorney. This is extremely unusual among credit repair software programs, and even with credit repair services.

The attorney is available for consultation – at no additional charge – to help you with, particularly difficult credit situations. The most common will be dealing with collection agencies.

Just knowing what you can do legally to deal with these agencies can be the difference between success and failure.

Another interesting feature is the budgeting capability. Many people get into credit problems for lack of adequate budgeting. TurnScor recognizes this as a problem and gives you the ability to get better control of your budget. This will avoid future credit problems.

TurnScor, however, is not recommended for anyone who is not fully prepared to take on all that’s involved in the credit repair process.

Even though the software provides everything you need to dispute credit issues, there will be a need in many circumstances to make direct contact with creditors.

This often happens by phone and involves tense negotiations. If you’re not prepared to engage in such contact and negotiations, the better option will be to use a full-service credit repair service that will handle the entire process for you.

But if you’re ready to take on the credit repair challenge on your own, TurnScor will help you make it happen.

If you’d like more information, or you’d like to order the software, check out the TurnScor website.
